This durable sock yarn, besides its wonderful colors, also offers some invisible advantages: the polyester content is made from recycled PET bottles, making it environmentally friendly. Furthermore, it hasn't undergone the environmentally harmful superwash treatment with chlorine. Naturally, this yarn is also mulesing-free. The label recommends hand washing, but it easily withstands the wool cycle of most washing machines. The yarn is spun and dyed in India.

As you may have already guessed, this yarn is something very special:

Bookseller Miriam Cahannes, Veronika Hug, Susanne Oswald and her husband Bernd Oswald want to break the current record of 35,500 hand-knitted socks on a clothesline.
These socks will be donated after the event to mobile shelters, mobile aid stations, and shelters in Germany, as well as similar facilities in Switzerland. To mark the occasion, they founded the "Sock World Record" association. With this world record attempt, they aim to raise public awareness of homelessness, foster understanding, and collectively make the world warmer and friendlier by at least 36,000 pairs of socks. Will you join them? Knitting can begin immediately, but the official start will take place at the Swiss Yarn Festival (SYF) 2026. Knitting will then continue for a year, culminating in the world record attempt at SYF 2027.

Whether you end up with a pair of socks for yourself or for a world record attempt is entirely up to you. Either way, we can say: it will definitely be a great knitting project!
